COLLEEN PATRICK-GOUDREAU (US Author, Speaker and Cultural Commentator) "When we turn away from the reality of what we do to animals for our gustatory pleasure, we play a game of pretend, like the child who covers her eyes and thinks you can't see her. And yet, there she remains. Closing our eyes doesn't make violence disappear; it only closes our minds and hearts and enables the violence to continue"

CESAR CHAVEZ (US Labour Leader & Civil Rights Activist) "We know we cannot be kind to animals until we stop exploiting them - exploiting animals in the name of science, exploiting animals in the name of sport, exploiting animals in the name of fashion, and yes, exploiting animals in the name of food"

GARY L FRANCIONE (US Legal Scholar, Distinguished Professor of Law) "Being Vegan is not just a matter of being 'kind' to animals. First and foremost, it is a matter of being just and observing our moral obligation to not treat other sentient beings as things"
AND "Veganism is an act of nonviolent defiance. It is our statement that we reject the notion that animals are things and that we regard sentient non-humans as moral persons with the fundamental moral right not to be treated as the property or resources of humans"
"I became a vegetarian after realising that animals feel afraid, cold, hungry and unhappy like we do. I feel very deeply about Vegetarianism and the animal kingdom. It was my dog Boycott who led me to question the right of humans to eat other sentient beings"
Cesar Chavez (US Labour Leader & Civil Rights Activist)
" I stopped eating meat some 50 years ago when I looked at the pork chop on my plate and thought; this represents fear, pain, death"
Dame Jane Goodall (British Primatologist and Anthropologist)
"We can't plead ignorance, only indifference. Those alive today are the generations that came to know better. We have the burden and the opportunity of living in the moment when the critique of factory farming broke into the popular consciousness. We are the ones of whom it will be fairly asked, What did you do when you learned the truth about eating animals?"
Jonathon Safran Foer (US Author 'Eating Animals', 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close')
" Being Vegan is easy. Are there social pressures that encourage you to continue to eat, wear, and use animal products? Of course there are. But in a patriarchal, racist, homophobic, and ableist society, there are social pressures to participate and engage in sexism, racism, homophobia and ableism. At some point , you have to decide who you are and what matters morally to you. And once you decide that you regard victimising vulnerable non-humans is not morally acceptable. it is easy to go and stay Vegan.
